Genesis Counseling Service

Genesis Counseling Service is a Christian- Based Counseling Center located in San Bernardino, and has been serving the larger Inland Empire for over thirty years.

In addition to receiving regular referrals from over 50 pastors, Genesis works closely with missionary organizations such as Mission Aviation Fellowship, Campus Crusade for Christ and the Billy Graham Association.

Staff from Genesis Speak at conferences and consult with Christian Camps, Christian Schools, Law Enforcement and Fire Departments, the judicial system, and many others.

Genesis regularly trains interns and licensed Christian Counselors from California Baptist, Azusa Pacific, Loma Linda University, Cal-State San Bernardino and other graduate programs in California. Graduates of this training are now serving as Christian professionals in cities all over the U.S.

The Staff at Genesis are each personally committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to His Written Word.

Our Goal is:
To use our gifts and talents in teaching and counseling to help others become the person, marriage or family God intended them to be!

At Genesis, we know that each person is unique and that we are all in process. We also know that many problems seem hopeless but that we have access to a Miracle-Making COUNSELOR who specializes in giving wisdom and hope in the worst of human conflicts!

Genesis was originally founded in conjunction with the International School of Theology and began operating in 1978. It operates as a 501c3 corporation and regularly receives donations form individuals, businesses and churches. Dr. Walter Linn was a part of the original founders and remains the Director of Genesis.

The ministry of Genesis is to work in partnership with churches and the larger Christian community by providing a referral source for those who are in crisis or in need of restoration.

Because Genesis is an independent organization, not officially affiliated with any single denomination or church, the counselors have the unique ability to create an extremely safe and confidential counseling environment where client concerns will be treated professionally.

As a non-profit ministry, Genesis charges fees based on clients’ combined yearly family income. Fees currently range from $40 – $100, with the possibility of scholarships from interested churches and other referral sources. Genesis does look to local businesses and churches to help underwrite the clients that would not otherwise be able to pay for these counseling services.

Genesis does offer special rates to members referred from churches that are ongoing financial partners with Genesis. There is a variety of ways to structure these rates and financial partnerships, which provides flexibility for churches and any of there referred parishioners.

All the Genesis staff and supporters are excited about the opportunity the Lord has opened in the high desert and are looking forward to the wonderful relationships and exciting works that such an opportunity will afford.

  1. The Word “BUT” in Scripture is perhaps the most powerful word in the bilble! Examples below:

    Mt 5:44 – Show Context
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

    Mt 6:13 – Show Context
And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

    Mt 6:33 – Show Context
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.

    Mt 8:24 – Show Context
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep

    Mt 9:13 – Show Context
Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

    Mt 13:11 – Show Context
And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

    Mt 18:7 – Show Context
“Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes!
    Ro 6:8 – Show Context
But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.
    Ro 6:14 – Show Context
For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace
    Ro 6:15 – Show Context
What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
    Ro 6:23 – Show Context
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    Ro 7:15 – Show Context
I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.
    Ro 7:20 – Show Context
Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin which dwells within me.
    Ro 8:15 – Show Context
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, “Abba! Father!”
    Ro 8:32 – Show Context
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him?
    .
    Ro 12:2 – Show Context
Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

    1Co 1:18 – Show Context
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God
    1Co 2:4 – Show Context
and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
    1Co 2:16 – Show Context
“For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
    1Co 6:11 – Show Context
And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
    1Co 9:24 – Show Context
Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
    1Co 12:4 – Show Context
    Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;
    1Co 12:5 – Show Context
    and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;
    1Co 12:6 – Show Context
and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one.
    1Co 12:14 – Show Context
For the body does not consist of one member but of many
    1Co 13:3 – Show Context
If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
    1Co 13:6 – Show Context
it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
    1Co 13:12 – Show Context
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.
    1Co 13:13 – Show Context
So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
    2Co 1:19 – Show Context
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we preached among you, Silva’nus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No; but in him it is always Yes.
    2Co 4:5 – Show Context
For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
    2Co 4:9 – Show Context
    persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
    2Co 10:4 – Show Context
for the weapons of our warfare are not worldly but have divine power to destroy strongholds
    2Co 10:18 – Show Context
For it is not the man who commends himself that is accepted, but the man whom the Lord commends.
    2Co 12:5 – Show Context
On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses
    2Co 12:9 – Show Context
but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
